When I was eleven years old I was just a normal average youth member of St. Martin de Porres. I did my ministries, and when I wasn't doing my ministries, I would listen to the Mass in the congregation. I had no idea that my true passion was to be in the Church, to make things better for the people.
During the time I was growing up in my Church there really was not much for me to be involved in. A lot of my childhood friends left the Church and as we grew it left me with very few friends to have. My Church was a very amazing Church and everyone in Buffalo had known or heard about it. We had an amazing choir, top-notch ministries who took their jobs very seriously, and the greatest congregation to make our Church the way it was. I loved my Church, but I also wanted to do more. I wanted to be more active and have more responsibility, but many of the adults felt that I was too young. On the Parish Council people are chosen by the congregation and they chose who they want to represent the Church and lead it to path of success. There was one spot for the youth representative. I wanted that spot. I wanted that spot because I felt that I could make a difference. I wanted youth ministries to be better and stronger. I didn't want the Church to be the same as it is was years before. I wanted change, a change that would provide opportunity to the youth as well as to the adults.
