Featured Article: “Mercy Is the Lord’s Most Powerful Message!” - Do you remember where you were and what you were doing when Jorge Mario Bergoglio, S.J., the Cardinal Archbishop of Buenos Aries, Argentina, was elected Pope Francis, the Bishop of Rome and 265th Successor of St. Peter?

There are hundreds of charitable causes that want a share of your generosity. And many of them are very worthy. Yet for many who will receive this newsletter, the cause of supporting and strengthening ministry to African American Catholics is of paramount importance.

Announcing

We are proud to announce The Friends of the NBCC - women and men from throughout the United States that care deeply about the cause of this ministry and provide regular support each month.

History at the White House

The National Black Catholic Congress has held an important place in this nation's history dating back 120 years. "In 1889, Daniel Rudd called together the very first National Black Catholic Congress. This meeting was held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington, D.C. Distinguished men of African descent came from all over the United States to participate in this historic event. President Grover

Brothers and sisters, We, though many, are one Body in Christ.
Romans 12:5

Will you help us advance
new ministries and services to
African Americans throughout
the country by becoming a
friend of the NBCC?

The Power of Coming Together

Still today, the National Black Catholic Congress is the primary convening organization and the primary disseminator of information supportive to Catholic African American ministry in the United States. To sustain and expand its mission today, the Congress must build a broader base of annual operating revenue. A goal for $150,000 has been set for the Friends inaugural campaign.

YOUR GENEROUS PARTICIPATION WILL ENABLE US TO:

  • * Convene and connect those in Black Catholic Ministry throughout the US
  • * Develop new programming and deliver support using new technology
  • * Strengthen our advocacy for Black Catholic Ministry and those we serve

NOW MORE THAN EVER

Data shows a significantly declining number of parishes and schools in the United States. Working together under the umbrella of the National Black Catholic Congress, we can research what is working best and examine how to share those great ideas as well as provide practical training to support implementation at the local level.

Most friends will give monthly from $5 to $100 per month as their blessings will allow. Some may give less and a few who are able to do so may give more. Only you can know how much the Lord has blessed you and how you are able to respond.
