As we pray
with Mary, the best way to express our faith in God is to love each other
fully. Yet in many situations, before we get to this depth of care, we need
to reconcile with each other. This task of reconciliation is the task of
realizing a new human family. Mary shows us that this is really the work of
God's Spirit. Her openness to the Spirit was to accept God's grace which
generated new life. If we are to bring about a new way of life, we too, need
to be open to the Spirit as was Mary. And so we pray,
Mary, you accepted God's invitation to an
adventure beyond all telling;
a saga that would involve joy and sadness, delight and pain, ecstasy and
tedium.
From Bethlehem and Nazareth, through Cana and Calvary, to Easter and
Pentecost, you remained "Woman of Faith" and "Servant of the Lord." With you
as our model and companion, may we, too - our souls alive with God's
greatness, our beings rejoicing in God's salvation, - embrace whatever God
might send us this day. Amen.[21]
