From Africa come a wealth of saints and other
inspirational people who serve as role models of faith for all races. Some are
well-known, like Saints Augustine, a doctor of the church, and his mother,
Monica. Others may be unknown to us, such as Blessed Daudi Okelo and Blessed
Jildo Irwa, twentieth-century Ugandan martyrs. Dr. Camille Brown shares forty
stories from hundreds, some for the first time, in this book. She fills our
hearts with examples of holy women and men who witness to us their utter
dependence on God, strength in adversity and love for the Eucharist.
