The distinguishing mark of the Congregation is "generous loving response to Divine Love Incarnate" - God's call to love Him and our fellow brothers and sisters. The Motto of the Daughters of Divine Love Congregation is "Caritas Christi Urget Nos" ("The Love of Christ Urges Us On")

The innumerable requests received from bishops, priests, religious and lay people asking the Congregation to come and serve the people with a religious Presence/ ministry in their dioceses and parishes testify to the difference the sisters are making in the lives of people. The sisters count themselves blessed and privileged to share in what the spirit is doing in the Church. With unprecedented growth in vocations to the Congregation, which has led to lack of housing, coupled with increasing opportunities to serve, the Daughters of Divine Love seek assistance from individuals or groups to help them build a new Motherhouse.

II. The Need

In a crowded residential area, with a public road separating two small walled compounds at Trans Ekulu, Enugu, and Enugu State, Nigeria is home to two family houses and a staff house that serve as a temporary Motherhouse of the Daughters of Divine Love Congregation. The doors to the compound and building are so close to the road that strangers easily move in and out. There is no privacy or areas conducive for prayers and meditation. The sisters need to cross the road for prayers and other religious activities amidst cars, motorcycles and pedestrians. Presently, these accommodations serve as a home for about 800 members of the congregation, whose witness of religious life have gone beyond these walls through the gospel message of reaching out in love.

Religious practices are celebrated in a vibrant way in Trans Ekulu. Uniting their voices with the Universal Church, sisters chant the Divine Office as a community each day. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered each morning in a space that serves as a visiting family parlor as well as the dining room. The local population also attends daily Mass, however, they are outside under various canopies.

The Daughters of Divine Love give credence to the saying of His Holiness, the late Pope John Paul II that the future of the Church is in Africa. What a joy and pride for the Universal Church to have had 38 young women make their first profession and 40 make their final vows in 2005. In the same year, the congregation received 53 first-and second-year novices and hundreds of candidates for the postulancy.
