The National Black Catholic
Congress (NBCC) held an award ceremony at Congress XI, Saturday, July 21, 2012
in Indianapolis, Indiana to give The Servant of Christ Award to black catholic
leaders throughout the country for their outstanding leadership in the Church.

Lifetime Achievement Servant of Christ Award. Fr. Cyprian Davis was not present
at the ceremony.
The Servant of Christ Award is a new award developed

These leaders requested of the Diocesan Bishop of
every diocese in the United States to kindly submit the name of an African
American Catholic in their diocese who best personifies Christian servant-
leadership in the African American community. A servant- leadership which is
creative and heroic, self sacrificing and self giving and exercised in the Name
of Christ, who came, "not to be served, but to serve…"

These men and women were nominated by their
respective bishops in recognition of their servant- leadership at the local
level and the national level. It was our distinct privilege to honor them by
presenting to them this Servant of Christ Award, a small token of our gratitude
and esteem, and we dear say, the esteem of African Americans Catholics
throughout the country, which look to them with appreciation and gratitude.
Congratulations to the recipients. Thank you for
your love and dedication for the Church community. May God continue to bless
you for all that you do for others.
